Jumping at Woodstock
There were a lot of things for the mind and spirit at Woodstock. Music all day starting at 1pm and going until 2 or 3am every day and parties somewhere all the time.
Soon after I settled in on Thursday afternoon I was thinking if there is going to be anyone jogging in the morning. It’s been a long time, a long, long time since I partied for 4 days. Dancing around till 4 in the morning, what was I thinking, jogging in the morning at Woodstock? Well if you run, you know the buzz you can get. No way was I running or anyone else, but I still needed to do something physical.
At end of the midway there were 4 activities and Xbox. First was a small rock climbing wall. Next 50kg Sumu suits that you put on and wrestle and behind that was giant boxing gloves (1m.x1m.) in a giant inflatable ring (7m.x7m.). Then The Extreme Jumping Machine.
It took me 3 days to get back to “needing to do something physical”. Boxing and wrestling are out of question because I don’t believe in competition. But The Extreme Jumping Machine, o yeah jumping 10m straight up!
The Extreme Jumping Machine is a trampoline with bungee cords. It has places for 1, 2, 4, or 6 people. The one at Woodstock had 4 places. I’ve only seen them in videos on T.V. It looks like a lot fun. How long is the ride? Guillaume, the operator from www.imaginair.ca said “It’s 5 minutes but if you can go more we usually let you go”. It look’s really easy to do, but it is a lot of work.
F. How safe is it?
G. It is a good place to learn flips and snowboard tricks.
Me, I’m not a snowboarder; I’m a San Pedro kind of guy. About 3 hours after having a nice cactus lunch I went jumping. Guillaume strapped me into the harness. I asked what was the easiest way to do a front flip? Guillaume said, “Just tuck and roll but back flips are easier. Wait until I tell you when you can flip”. I replied, “O.K.”
Then he tightened up the bundgees till I was 1m off the trampoline. Guillame tells me, “You can flip now”. Guillame pulled me down and started bouncing me on the trampoline. Zoom, 20 feet straight up! Then I was flipping backwards, upside down. It was a lot better than jumping on the bed. By the time I was finished I was doing 2 full back flips. I just couldn’t get a front flip. It was a lot work. I didn’t last 5 minutes. But it took care of my need to do something physical without hitting something.
