Tea Party at La Ronde
I think the best music in world is made by power trio bands like Cream, Rush, The Police, Primus and sometimes a power trio with a singer like, Led Zeppelin.
The first time I heard “The River” I stopped and just stood there listening and thought, “Who is that”? When I found out they were a POWER TRIO I was a fan. Tea Party music encourages you to relax and float away; even the heavier songs have a floating quality to them. So when I heard that The Tea Party was playing at La Ronde I instantly decided that I ‘m going!! The Jardin des Etoiles at La Ronde is 1of the 5 best places to see a show in Montreal.
To get tickets I got up at 4:30am to stand in line at HMV. I was there at 5:15. Jimmy was first, Chantal was next and then me. Minutes later Peter, then Anne Marie. We spent the next 4hours smoking and talking Tea Party. Anne Marie had a coupon for me. I knew I would get one in line. By 6:30, 50 people were in line and by 8:00 there were 250 people. There were only 50 pairs of tickets.
Zachary and I arrive at the concert at 7:40pm and go to the back door to see who is there. Stefan and Papillon are the intermission act. I know Stefan from the drum shop of Steve’s Music Store. Stefan tells me the opening act didn’t show up and Tea Party is on stage now!! We run all the way around to the front, 500m. We run inside and I jump up on a table! The band had just started to play The Badger, a very sweet, soft and gentle song. I went from chaos to calm with just one breath. It was the best show I’ve seen this summer and I have been to about 40 shows since May. Everything was perfect, the sound, the lights, the people, the air; everything was beautiful. I was off the ground for the whole show and when they played Kashmir I jumped right out of myself!! And floated away.
Stefan and Papillon played jimbay drums with lots of power and covered some Nine Inch Nails. They were very good and put on a great show.
This show was an experience and that is the reason I go to live shows. What more could I say. It was the best show this summer!!
